QUEZON CITY – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) conducted a series of activities promoting safe spaces and employee well-being from 05 to 11 December 2025 at the ILS Conference Room in Quezon City, as part of its observance of the 2025 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW).

On 05 December, ILS employees participated in professional massage sessions, underscoring self-care as an essential component of empowerment and reinforcing the campaign’s advocacy for holistic well-being.

This was followed by a yoga session on 10 December, where participants were guided through proper breathing techniques and meditation practices aimed at improving focus and mindfulness. The activity complemented earlier wellness initiatives and further strengthened efforts to cultivate safe spaces that support both physical and mental health in the workplace.

On 11 December, ILS organized a physical and mental health check-in to address employees’ overall well-being while reinforcing awareness of Gender and Development (GAD) issues. The session opened with a short lecture by Dr. Ma. Jocelyn A. Go-Monilla, who highlighted the importance of mental resilience in managing workplace stress and personal challenges. Participants engaged in brief self-assessment exercises and were introduced to practical strategies such as breathing techniques, mindfulness practices, and reframing negative thoughts. The session also emphasized the value of seeking professional help as a proactive step toward sustained health and productivity. In the afternoon, employees availed of basic health services, including blood pressure monitoring and lifestyle consultations.

The day concluded with GAD Trivia Down, which tested participants’ knowledge of campaign concepts, VAW-related terminology, GAD and VAW statistics, and notable female personalities in media and popular culture—fostering a spirit of camaraderie while reinforcing learning among the employees.

The 18-Day Campaign to End VAW was spearheaded by the Institute’s Technical Working Group on Policy, Advocacy, and Communications and ran from 28 November to 12 December 2025.
