QUEZON CITY – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) successfully concluded the 3-Day Comprehensive Data Privacy and Security Governance Training held on 18, 20, and 21 November 2025 at the ILS Conference Room in Quezon City.
Atty. Jobelle R. Amboy, Mr. Grelly Anthony H. Ramos, Engr. Juvelyn Merilo, and Ma. Joanne B. Irabon, J.D. from the National Privacy Commission (NPC) served as resource speakers.
In her opening remarks, OIC Deputy Executive Director Miraluna S. Tacadao underscored the importance of data privacy in policy research. “As government workers and personal data processors, we must ensure that we implement our mandate with strengthened and secure systems and data infrastructures to protect both the public we serve and our employees as data subjects, in accordance with data privacy laws, measures, and guidelines,” she stressed.
The training covered key topics such as Data Privacy Awareness and Privacy Governance, Risk and Compliance, Privacy Risk Management, and Security Incident Management. During workshop sessions, participants conducted Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), implemented Privacy Risk Management strategies, and crafted components of a Security Incident Management Policy, including breach notification procedures and the formation of a response team.
Organized by the Institute’s Advocacy and Publications Division – Information and Technology Unit, the training forms part of the ILS’ commitment to delivering relevant, responsive, and high-quality policy research by ensuring that its data management practices, specifically on its processing of Personal Information and Personal Sensitive Information, remain secure, ethical, and compliant with the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
